WELCOME!

I’m Sylvia Stepp — an illustrator and visual storyteller studying Illustration with a Creative Writing minor at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit. I expect to graduate in the Spring of 2028.

I create character-driven illustration, character design, and sequential narrative work shaped by a multicultural upbringing, study and travel across five continents, and a lifelong grounding in dance and musical theatre. My focus is people: how they move, what they carry, and how stories shift across borders.

My approach earned recognition from the 2024 Scholastic Art Awards, including a Gold Key for character illustration, a Silver Key, and honorable mentions for the Southeast Michigan & Thumb Region. I draw primarily in digital media — Procreate, Photoshop, and Clip Studio Paint — with sketchbook studies informing my characters and composition.

During the summer of 2026, I completed three college courses for nine credits, including a CCS Art History course in Greece. I also earned my SIELE Global Spanish certification and spent a week in French immersion at Alliance Française de Montréal, and I’m currently continuing my French studies at Alliance Française de Detroit.

I am currently available for illustration commissions and actively seeking Summer 2027 internship opportunities in character design, storyboard, or animation.
